The Haters - Limited Edition

The Haters is largely the work of GX Jupitter-Larsen although he has been joined by many others over the years. This is especially the case live where The Haters will typically contain members of whatever "noise-scene" is available in the town where the Haters are playing. It is astonishing to think that GX has been expanding the boundaries of noise and media manipulation since 1979!

This boxset was created to mark the 25th anniversary of the Haters' existence. The noise collage on each disc contains every technique employed by The Haters up until it's release and was incorporated into these recordings. These were recorded in the first half of 2004 and from memory were briefly available from GX's website. They were then released in a boxset on the Troniks label run by Phil Blankenship (a.k.a. The Cherry Point, Lefthandeddecision, LHD, etc) in an edition of 100, which disappeared very quickly.

Rainbow Bridge

Hands Up! I'm a dickhead! Threw up the Whitewater Orgasm post without doing the usual checks and turns out the Sad Way To Swallow is still for sale at the label. I'm on the mailing list for Rainbow Bridge which makes the omission a bit more dickhead-ish.

Anyway...Rainbow Bridge is run by Justin Marc Lloyd out of Baltimore. He also makes stellar quality music as Pregnant Spore, Dim Dusk Moving Gloom, Inappropriate King Live, Dementia And Hope Trails, The Human Excuse, False Flag and Sensible Nectar.

Recent releases on Rainbow Bridge include (as well as his own material) Oscillating Innards, Government Alpha, Merzbow, Head Boggle, Vestigial Limb and a couple of killer splits between Demonologists & Cock E.S.P. and Kommissar Hjuler und Frau & Fossils. The distro service offers more gems such as a Torturing Nurse & Pregnant Spore split and a sweet double tape of Justin's work that was put out on (former proprietor of this blog) J's label Side-A Records. Justin also sells via Discogs so if you are doing a bit of browsing, there's always angelhair0

And...just when you thought that it couldn't get any better...out of print releases are also offered up as free downloads on the label site!

Anyway...away to wash off the cheese from around my neck...

Throbbing Gristle - Desertshore Installation

"As you may have seen, TG will be presenting an Installation at London's ICA, on June 1-3, 2007 during which they will be recording the initial parts for a new album which is based on their interpretation of Nico's classic Desertshore album, which we hope after final production, to release in 2008.

These six two-hour sessions will be recorded in full on a Soundfield microphone, then a small number pressed onto 12 discs in cd-r format, the size of the edition being based largely on the number of pre-orders received.

The resulting set of 12 cd-rs, housed in a 12 page stamped cd wallet, will be available from this store only - a must for interested parties unable to attend in person, and for all serious collectors of TG Art."

"These recordings were made as a document of TG´s Desertshore Installation. They are presented here unedited, in their original, naked, honest form (other than increasing the level of conversation, and reducing the level of sounds that might blow your speakers).

Everything you hear here, though not necessarily intentional, is part of the creative process. All clicks, hums, buzzes, distortion etc. are an intrinsic part of the listening experience, which you share with the audience on that day."

The Upsetters

Super Ape

Return of the Super Ape

If there was some kind of per capita chart for the greatest music ever made then Jamiaca would win hands down!

These are 2 lps from 1976 and 1978 respectively. I could talk forever about Jamaican music...but...The Upsetters were a rolling collective that included (at times) Augustus Pablo, Boris Gardiner, Mikey Richards, Sly Dunbar, Benbow Creary, Earl "Chinna" Smith and Aston "Family Man" Barrett.

The key figure in all of this is the organiser, originator, producer, contributer and genius that is/was Mr Lee "Scratch" Perry. I love my King Tubby and my Coxsone but Lee Perry is godlike!

Wilt & As All Die & Immaculate.Grotesque - Wounded Infidel

C60 released in 2006 on Truculent Recordings covering some live sets complete with some awkward interview sections. The Wilt set is wonderful and have alyways had an ear for Jeff Plummer's Immaculate:Grotesque.

I think that leaves 8 Wilt releases that I don't have...the closer I get the crazier it drives me!

Olympic Shit Man - Supercharge

Looking forward to 2012...can't wait for the medal to be hung around that neck!

Master Musicians Of Bukkake - The Visible Sign Of The Invisible Order

Where to start...? This is my rip of the original CD on Abduction (Sun City Girls' label and general land of wonder). MMOB features Alan Bishop and (the deeply missed) Charles Gocher Jr. of SCG along with a host of people that included members of Secret Chiefs 3 and Earth. This was released in 2004 and I thought it was a one-shot deal from a bunch of Seattle based friends.

Imagine my happy happy joy joy when in 2009 it all started to roll again. Half a dozen or so releases since '09 and they are all essential.

Important Records rereleased this last year as a double vinyl set and did a great job...bought that too and it sounds better than the original...mind you, it is vinyl!

Fouke - Batutut

Fouke is Richard Ramirez in yet another guise. This appeared last year in an edition of 33 and is loooong gone. This 3xC20 boxset was released on the mighty New Forces. There are two more recent Ramirez alter ego project boxsets that have recently been dropped by the label. I have them in my sweaty little hands right now and they are ace! Mind you, everything that this label puts out is ace! Pay attention, pay tribute, pay money!
